Betty’s parents are eager to achieve financial security and believe she is their ticket to wealth. They are easily deceived by a villain who poses as a rich man by wearing expensive, hired clothes. Despite her parents' pressure to marry the "wealthy" imposter, Betty is in love with Jack, a young man who once saved her life. Jack is currently engaged to a society girl he does not love.
