Peter A. Perrone
Peter Anthony Perrone was born into a military family in Panama City. Traveling the world throughout his youth, he lived in Arizona, Hawaii, Germany, Scotland, California and Arkansas before moving to New York City to pursue a career as a singer/dancer on the Broadway stage. As a side gig, he became a research assistant for some very established writers and personalities, including John Richardson, Picasso's biographer, and Susan Sontag. He developed a friendship with Sontag over the years, and was with her in the final hours of her life. Perrone developed a practice of assisting those in the end of life process, steeped in Tibetan Buddhist customs, as a former student of Sogyal Rinpoche. Through this practice of meditation and caring for those who are near death, Perrone wrote a series of essays that were published in 'Howl,' a compendium of works by Joshua Tree writers, poets and essayists.
